How to join

FICPI provides you with, among other things, networking events, educational events, advocacy for the profession, and the opportunity to be listed on the FICPI.org website, which is available for viewing by potential clients.  FICPI is unique in being the only organization that represents IP professionals in private practice and your membership fees help facilitate that. 

To be eligible to join FICPI Canada you must satisfy the entrance requirements and obtain recommendations from two current members.

The membership fee is currently $600.00 per year (plus applicable provincial or harmonized sales tax).

FICPI events and offerings are now back in full swing! We recognize that firms and practitioners ceased various industry/professional memberships during the pandemic and to encourage your re-engagement with FICPI, Council has agreed to waive the reinstatement fee of $200 for the 2024 membership year. Therefore, if you were a member in any year from 2019 to 2023, you can renew your membership at the regular rate.

Application for Membership or Junior Membership with FICPI Canada

We are pleased to announce there is a reduced rate of $300 for new members for their initial year. Please take this opportunity to encourage your colleagues and contacts to join the FICPI family! The first step is to complete and submit a New Member Application below after which you will be contacted by a FICPI Canada Council member. Please provide the names of two referees in the form.

We ask you to distribute this message to promising younger practitioners either within your firm or within your other contacts. FICPI Canada has now opened a new membership category for Junior Members, being those that are working towards qualification of a Class 1 Patent and/or Trademark Agent license and in private practice. A reduced rate of $150 applies to Junior Members.

Please choose “Patent Affiliate” or “Trade-mark Affiliate” in the “Classification” drop-down menu and please provide at least one name of a referee in the form (two are not required for this category).
